howdly doodie
well how's it going there everybody? haven't been on the internet in more than a week and only 3 emails! nobody loves me anymore, boo hoo!!
anyway have lots to tell ye all since i updated me blog more than 2 weeks ago (bold maeve!) .
its been a mad few weeks, lots of laughs and tears as well unfortunately. Jenny received some sad news from home. her granny was taken ill and my partner in crime returned home two weeks ago. we were all very sorry to hear that her granny passed away there on monday and everyone sends their regards to jen and her family.
well it hasnt been the same without jen around though we've managed to have a few laughs all the same. the lads arrived down the weekend before last and we all got the friday and the monday off work. i wont bore you with all the details but needless to say most of the weekend was spent on the mountain or in the pub. friday evening turned out to be a savage session, with a skydive booked for saturday morning it probably wasnt the best of ideas. we'd 10 of us for the skydive on saturday morning.
i must admit i was pretty nervous. being a bit of a scaredy cat about these kind of things, and not a great fan of heights, i wasnt sure if i was goin to like it or not. myself, mick and tom were up in the first plane. its a wee small little plane with a see through door at the side, which they open up and you jump out. you're all tied onto the guy who's jumping with you. mick was sitting nearest the door with tom the other side and me at the back . i think i was put at the back due to nerves! though tom and mick had been putting on a brave face i think, the higher we got the whiter mick was getting. we were all to jump from 15000 feet, which is surprisingly high up actually. it takes the plane about 15 minutes to reach this height. at about 12000 feet they make you sit up on top of the lad who's jumping with you ( i think i let a fart at 13000, which he cant have been too happy about, especially considering the space restrictions!! !! he he he!). anyway we all had to have oxygen at 12000 feet due to the height we were up . then they opened the door and out mick went. fagan was next. my lad kind of shuffled forward then and i was sitting on the edge for a second. could see fagan falling away at an awful speed before me and at that point, i was just thinking ' what the hell are you doing ya fecking eejit'. anyway there was no goign back and before i knew i was falling through the air like a sack of spuds. it takes a few seconds for yer man to right himself and then he taps you on shoulder and you put your arms and legs out. i was strapped on underneath him. its so cool once you get over the initial shock. you're going through the air at 200k/hr but it feels like you're suspended in time nearly. you're falling and falling but the groudn doesnt seem to be getting any closer and the air is whizzing by you and you can see for miles. its just the maddest feeling. at 15000 ft you get more than 60 seconds of free fall. yer man stuck his foot out and we went spinning around really fast. after what felt like ages we were drawing level with the tops of the mountains and i was just wondering when he was going to pull the chord, when he pulled it and we slowed right down . he loosed all the ties a bit and we were floating away then, didnt like that part as much, too near the ground, and he went spinning around and it just felt like i was hanging in the air with nothing under me , which was the way i was ! i lifted my legs up when we landed and then forgot to stand up once we slowed down so we ended up in a ball on the ground , . anyway the whole experience was one i wont forget in a hurry! the rest of the weeekend was spent hanging out with the boys , they headed back on monday evening and then it was back to work on tuesday! a much worse downer than usual after the four days off!!
getting pretty sick of work, though it pays the bills so i'll have to put up with it for another while. sick of listening to men bitching and moaning day in day out!!made one quite embarrassing fuck up actually which will give the engineers a bit of a laugh, were putting in precast stairs about two weeks ago and were putting in the last one of the day between these two panels with the crane and everyone was watching cos they were all going home and the bloody yokes didnt fit cos i'd forgotten to allow any tolerance!! oops!! they wont let me forget that one in a hurry! the whole company is looking a bit shaky at the moment, bit of a bad cash situation , so hopefully they'll last another few weeks!! last weekend, ended up on the piss with my work buddies which was a good laugh, did a bit of boarding and took it easy generally. celebrated walrus ' birthday on monday .he had to blow out the candles to the beetles song instead of the usual happy birthday which was quite funny, well we all thought it was anyway !! fergus' birthday was the next day so we went bowling for that, they 've a dinky litttle bowling place in one of the hotels.
anwyay i've got to put these photos up now and get out of here. been typing for ages
luv and hugs
