ahoi
well hello everyone,
hope everyone's well and happy. Well i've had a very lazy few months with regards the ole blogspot but you'll all be glad to know its up and running again. i also lost my camera on paddy's day (night) so not too many photos to go up either.
Anyway i'll try and keep this short and sweet. its been a busy few months as you might imagine, settling into the big smoke. Unfortunately jenny decided to head on home when her visa was up as it would have been a lot of trouble to get a podiatry job sorted out, so at the moment i'm without a partner in crime so managing to be very well behaved altogether!! (mick: 'kennelly is spreading disinformation on the information super highway!!' ) .
In the meantime i managed to find myself an engineering job and am all grown up and professional these days. (after making it to W in the phone book!!, it turns out most of the companies are looking for experience!) . I'm working with a civil consultancy and i pretty much landed on my feet there. the company's full of young people and do plenty of social events . the work's pretty interesting, working on a town centre at the moment and using all kinds of fancy engineering software. spending a lot of time in front of the computer but that should change soon once the design stage is complete.
I also moved into a house with some randomers . they're sound enough. there's a kiwi couple and a kiwi guy (who's a bit dry) and an english (well he claims he's scottish but has an english accent!) guy who's dead on . Its a grand big house and only a half hour walk to work which is nice.
Fagan and his merry men have moved out to suburbia. they live in a very fancy place altogether with white carpets, so you even have to take your shoes off going in the door, they are now known as the buckets (from keeping up appearances, Heidi (tom's missus) is hyacinth, tom is richard, pete is the son, searson and conneally are vying for the position of Onslo! ) anyway its a fun place to visit and you can always expect the best cheese and crackers! (tom is moving up inthe world , no longer to be known as bales, rather Captain Winerack).
The other place i like to visit is the dentists den in Parnell (another fancy part of auckland, though the residents of teh den aren't all that fancy) Lewi 'I'm Fokkked' Feely, Smokey 'tough love' Evans, Barry 'radar' rafter, and Gerard 'I don't know' Sullivan are the live there. unfortunately these fun guys are leaving in a few weeks so i'll have to go and try and make a few more friends so the craic can continue!
Life in auckland is a little different to the carefree back packing lifestyle i was becoming used to . for one it turns out that the kiwis are a nation of stokers! this means that at the weekend they try to get to bed early so they can get up early and do all kinds of activites, the more ridiculous the better. This has its advantages as there are all kinds of classes and events you can participate in. we all took part in a cross country triatholon a few weeks ago. myself , pete and smokey entered a team so we only had to do one leg each and conneally and searson did the whole lot. quiet a bit of fun but a lot of hard work. in order to fit in with the locals i'm doing all kinds of evening classes as well. monday's i do yoga (which i fell asleep at last week during the relaxation - a little embarrassing) , wednesdays tennis (though i'm joining an irish soccer team this week so that's will be weds from now on ) and thursdays picture framing. its all go here. unfortuately the social life isnt that great (the kiwis all being tucked up in bed at 9 o'clock every night!), and me being a social bunny am finding this hard to get used to. i've therefore decided i need to meet more irish people, which is why i'm joining the soccer team.
of course i have been up to one or two of my usual antics, getting myself into embarrassing situations of course. kissed one of the only single guys in the office and managed to get away with it!! woo hoo!
well i should probably stop now before i get myself into any more trouble. roll on Ireland vs The All Blacks, hope we give them a good hiding- look out for our funny flag too, we have about 17 irish eejits going to the game. would appreciate a few emails from all the lazy sods back home!
luv and hugs
maeve
